We had such a fantastic tour guide on our trip to Flanders Fields. He couldn’t have made it more informative and fascinating. I would thoroughly recommend Quasimodo and the day was very well organised too. Many thanks, Joanna Higgins

Flanders Fields Tour

We have just returned to the UK, and would like to leave comments about this tour. Our party of 6, with ages ranging from 16 to 75 thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would recommend to everyone. I had visited the battlefields and cemeteries of WW1 on a school trip many years ago and as such I was dreading retracing my footsteps, having found my first visit quite sombre, traumatising and depressing. However, my husband was very keen that we should all go, and before I could change my mind, it was booked. This second experience was in complete contrast to the first, and this is undoubtedly due to Phil and his extensive knowledge of all matters relating to the Great War. His p***on for WW1 was evident and unlike other tours, his commentary was delivered with such enthusiasm that it was hard to believe he had been doing this for so many years. We were amazed at how much was packed into one day! We realise now that under our own steam we could never have achieved anything similar. It felt as if we weren't travelling for hours as there were numerous stops, some long some short, with so much to take in, so much to see, some very moving moments, and some lighter moments. As said by another reviewer, Phil's approach was direct and no-nonsense, but interspersed by some humour where appropriate. We would all recommend this to everyone - young and old. My sons of 16 & 18 have come away with a much greater appreciation of WW1 in its historical context, and my parents and my husband have come away very moved with memories that will live on for years. This tour represents excellent value for money. For me, I feel some closure that through adult eyes, my teenage experiences can be put to rest and replaced with a greater understanding of our history. As a member of The Royal British Legion, the next time I hear The Last Post or Reveille, images of this tour will be in my mind, and as real as images of current conflicts. Thank you Phil for everything. It was a great day for us all, for so many reasons, and on so many levels.

Thank you

I just want to say that I very much enjoyed the tour I joined last month. It may be easy for you to remember which one. You probably don't meet many Filipinos that arrive to Bruges from India and travels alone :) We were a small tour group - myself, an english grandma, her precocious granddaughter and two couples from the states. Thanks for the great day. Not all of us enjoy what we do for a living and not all of us do it well. But you clearly do both. I hope to come back to Brugge and hopefully join the flanders fields tour you and your wife offer.

Mr

The two tours with you were the highlights of our holiday - the visit to WW1 Flanders Field was fascinating while the "treats" trip gave us light hearted look at the local countryside. You will be pleased to know we've stopped saying "Bruges" and now refer to it in conversation as "Brugge". Thanks again - David & Anne Currie

Mrs

We had the most informative guide, and could not have had a more interesting or well-organised day.

Flanders Fields Tour

A big thank you to Philippe for his interesting & informative tour through the battlefields of Flanders. His knowledge & p***on for what he does make the tour so much better than it would otherwise have been. Extra special thanks for taking my husband & I to visit the grave of my uncle - we would never have found it without his help. If anyone is thinking of doing a tour of the Flanders battlefields it is a must to contact Quasimodo. Thank you once again Philippe.

Battlefields Tour

This is a very enjoyable and interesting tour. We have been twice and both Phillip and Sharon have a very easy manner of telling the story of the conflicts and the impact on the Belgium people and country. Very well worth the time and money.

Flanders Fields Tour - 2nd time around

About 17 years ago, my then girlfriend Caroline and I, plus my brother, went on the Flanders Fields tour led by Philippe. The experience was unforgettable, and we thought one day we'd love to do the tour again. Last Thursday 7th June Caroline - now my wife, our 11 year old daughter Elizabeth and myself did the tour. It brought back all kinds of memories, and added more new experiences and information. The same thorough, well-researched talks on the road and at each stop; the same attention to detail - e.g. helping a New Zealand family on the bus trace and commemorate their relative. There's a lot to take in on a Quasimodo Tour - Philippe doesn't let you nod off to sleep! But what you get is a day packed with sights, and well-developed but spontaneous commentary. We can't think of anything that gives quite the same value for money these days. And there's something else that is too often lacking on guided tours - a sense of humour. Philippe delivers his information and insights with no-nonsense directness, peppered here and there with facts none of us could possibly have heard before, and a little good humour. It all makes for a very memorable day and one we would heartily recommend.

Mrs

Dear Philippe and Sharon I just wanted to say what a fabulous time I had on your two tours, Best of Belgium, and Flanders Fields. You have made my family history come alive for me and the rest of the tour in a totally engaging way. You p***onate and knowledgable commentary was of the highest standard and your easy going humour was appreciated. The day was emotional without being sentimental and I thank you for sharing you knowledge and love of your country with us all today. If I can I'll be coming back to Brugge with my family, so hopefully we'll be on your tour agin. Thank you for an *** day, Cheers Lesley Bath Btw I also loved you Best of Brugges tour. Was fun and very informative
