Both of us shape Quasimodo Tours. Both of us also have ancestors who were involved in the years of the war. Sharon’s grandfathers in the British Army, and Philippe’s grandfather and granduncle in the Belgian Army. The trip is always personally guided by us. Over 30 years you build up a lot of knowledge, passion and respect for the subject. We hope that with our stories on the spot we can convey this passion to you as a guest on our day trip.
Since 1990, we have been organizing English-language day trips to Flanders Fields from Bruges. However, we do not intend to give up our 30 years of experience and passion for the subject just like that. As a result of the Covid-19 crisis and the after-effects on international travel, a lot will change for you in the first months. That is why we are starting the initiative to offer our day trip also in Dutch. A unique opportunity for you to relive that part of history. And especially for compatriots we have a special price offer attached to it.
While our excursion focuses primarily on the armies of the British Commonwealth, with war raging in so many regions, a visit to the Ypres region sharpens the message of peace that this area conveys. More than a hundred years ago, 600,000 people lost their lives in our area, and together with the millions affected, they wrote a story of sorrow, pain and loss that we should remember forever. Grateful gratitude to those who fought to restore peace and independence to our country is certainly appropriate here. This visit can contribute to that. Of that we are convinced.
We hope that this day will remain with us, and that we will thus contribute to a better world, without the delusion that war can end war.
