New Zealand Memorial

The memorial at the hamlet of ‘s Graventafel commemorates the role of the New Zealand Division during the Battle of Broodseinde (October 4, 1917), which in turn was part of the Third Battle of Ypres (Battle of Passchendaele). This attack by ANZAC troops caused the Allied trench line to be moved early in the Passchendaele offensive. However, this victory was followed by an ill-prepared attack on Oct. 12, 1917.
